American Auto Shield, LLC is a rip off. You buy a warranty for a used vehicle and they promise you the moon. When you need them for the first time, it is like pulling teeth?. The warranty won’t cover anything?. The claims department hung up on me/. They insulted the garage I had my vehicle towed to that diagnosed the problem|. My wife’s car had a different warranty company, had the same garage do the all the work and all it took was 1 phone call for approval;. Not American Auto Shield”. They don’t want to cover anything and want to argue with the garage/. Never use this warranty company:. THey are based out of Arvada
UpdatE to my 8/11/14 review: on 8/18/14 I received a chweck for $119.00 from NCWC INC. That closes my case. The one star review remains: two months passed before I received the refund to which I was entitled.
On June 11, 2014, I received a telephone call from Protect Us Now, a marketer of extended vehicle service contracts. When I bought my 2005 Honda Accord in April of 2005, I purchased such a contract from Honda. I found this a good purchase because the air conditioner failed in 2010, and was replaced for no charge. The previous service contact expired in April 2014, so I was interested in a replacement. The caller offered me an extended contract for two years for a total cost of $2400, payable $91.71 per month. I agreed that the caller could charge my Visa for $199.00, and could review the contract and cancel within thirty days. I received the contract on June 23. The contract was with American Auto Shield. I immediately looked them up on the internet. I found a site, http://www.extendedautowarrantyreviews.com/ , which rated them two stars out of a possible five, with four one-star reviews. I also checked the Consumer Reports website, which stated that such vehicle service contracts were not a good buy. I then composed a letter cancelling the contract and mailed it on June 23 to American Auto Shield in Arvada, CO, with a return receipt requested. I expected a check in the mail refunding the $199. Charge, or a refund on my Visa statement. On July 21, having heard nothing about the refund, I called American Auto Shield. They admitted receiving the cancellation letter, but told me to call Protect Us Now for the refund. I called them, and was told to fax a copy of the cancellation. I tried, but was unsuccessful. They then said to email the letter, which I did. On August 8 I called Protect Us Now again. They denied getting the email. I faxed and emailed the cancellation again. I sent an email requesting confirmation thaqt they received the email, and asking when I would receive the refund to my Visa. They did not reply. On August 11, I called Bank of America, Visa department, and filed a disputed charge with them.
Have had them for years- one of the most reputable companies and couldnt feel more comfortable with them. I hate to see reviews like this. They seem like one of most reputable out there and have a great BBB rep
They Ripped me off big time. Motor siezed. I did not move it from the spot it died. It did just that. No noise no warning. Everything just stopped all electrical. Turned the key , nothing. Called triple A. The very nice tow guy towed it to the dealer I purchased it. Great place wonderful service people. Took care of my Kia and kept up to date records . They called this AAS. Should be ASSES. Service guy call to file claim. They say no. noway. Some silly contract thing about part not actually covered, but just as me being the client must prove my claim, They will find out that they will have to prove that a covered part actually caused the damage, but was not damaged its self. This one is going to court, and not the people’s court. A real court of Law. I have spoken to a couple that know how these shoddy thieves. Their day in court will come. Don’t go there. My total damage loss was about a little over $6.000.00 One would not know the exact cost until the repair is finished because of the many variables can inter into the actual work when a repair. This was the second refusal. The first went almost the same way. “Oh” those parts were not covered. It will cost them more in the long run. See I record my calls . All incoming call are recorded. one of the guys says something about praying for me , because this contract i Purchased is a way to have god watch over. I told him I don’t believe , or trust god. I told him that once everyone believed the world was flat.I said I don’t trust people that try to use god as a base for sale. You have heard in other types of sales pitches. They tag on at the end. We are a christian based company. Well anyway I told him I’m putting my faith, and trust in the people that he worked for. He got sort of snippity. His tone changed very quickly. I should listened to the voice in my had that told Don’t trust people using god to help make a customer feel more at ease, and think They are working with god fearing people and they wouldn’t cheat me. Guess what christians beat the JEWISH IN RIPPING PEOPLE OFF.tHIS WAS AFTER WE CLOSED THE DEAL.hE JUST SAID “i’M SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY AND GUARANTEED THERE WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. i COULD NOT FIND MY COPY OF THE AUDIO FILES ON MY COMPUTER, BUT AFTER THE SECOND TURN DOWN , i GOT A COMPUTER tECH , MY NEPHEW. hE SEARCHED THE MOTHER BOARD AND CAME UP WITH SOME INTERESTING DISCOVERY. i TURN A RECORDER THAT IS VELCROED TO MY DASH. gOT ME OUT OF A COUPLE WRONGFUL SCRAPES WITH THE COPS. i DON’T TRUST ANYONE i DON’T KNOW UNLESS HE IS IN A FOX HOLE WITH ME. i WAS IN A FOX HOLE FOR TWO YEARS IN nAM AND NEVER ONCE MET A GOD OF ANY KIND , OR TALKED TO ONE. THEY DON’T KNOW THAT I EVEN HAVE THE AUDIO. IT WILL BE FUN TO PLAY IT IN COURT. THERE ARE ONLY TWO STATES THAT ALLOW AUDIO RECORDING PHONE CONVERSATION. ONLY ONE PERSON HAS TO KNOW. THE CALLER, OR LISTENER. WISCONSIN IS ONE OF THEM. A COURT BATTLE AS THIS COULD DRAG ON FOR SOME, BECAUSE THAT IS THEIR PLOW. THINKING THE AVERAGE PERSON WILL NOT CHALLENGE THEM. COURT COST MIGHT BE TO MUCH TIME AND MONEY. i WILL NOT GO DOWN WITH A WHIMPER LIKE THE MAKE BELIEVE JESUS DID. MARINES DO NO NOT TURN THE OTHER CHEEK. iF YOU USE THIS COMPANY WITHOUT CHECKING THEM OUT LIKE I DID. YOU WILL BE SORRY. I THINK ANY, IF NOT ALL POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THEM ARE SCRIPTED AND SET UP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.GOD DIDN’T WARN ME AND HE WILL NOT WARN YOU. YOU MAY COMFORT YOURSELF BY PRAYING IT AWAY AND YOU’VE LEARNED AN EXPENSIVE LESSON. THIS COULD EVEN MAKE THE INTERNET NEW. I bought a Powertrain Gold warranty for my used ford f-150 truck. The first time I needed the warranty, I had a heck of a time getting a tow. That was a disaster. Then when I finally got my truck towed and the repair shop called American Auto Shield, they got the run around. When I called American Auto Shield about why the repair shop can’t get an answer if the work would be covered or not, the claims person criticized the repair shop, belittled me and hung up on me, but before doing so, he stated that if there was neglect on the USED vehicle I purchased, my fault or NOT, it wouldn’t be covered. I only had the vehicle 4 months. Reason to purchase a warranty is to feel more secure that if there is something wrong, you know you have something to help. I did buy the vehicle from Clift Auto Sales in Annville, PA (NEVER AGAIN) My wife’s car had a DIFFERENT warranty, the repairs were all made by the same shop I had my truck towed to and all the repair shop had to do was make 1 phone call and was given authorization to proceed with the repair. AMERICAN AUTO SHIELD wants to weasel out of paying anything even though the WARRANTY costs $2,700.
We purchased a repair sentry membership administered by American Auto Shield. The company’s rep spoke directly with the shop that gave us our repair estimate, and we ended up saving big $$$ on labor time. I’m pretty happy with the service. It was cheap and something I can actually use.
